Not Receiving Emails?

If you believe you are not receiving emails from KIC, such as the weekly Friday newsletter or important announcements, the first step is to check your spam, junk, or filtered folders.

Email providers automatically filter messages based on algorithms, past behavior, and how you yourself sort/categorize/interact with emails. Occasionally, legitimate emails can be routed to the wrong folder at first until you tell your inbox that you want to see those and trust the sender.

Below are the most common places to check based on your email provider:

Gmail (Google Workspace or Personal Gmail)

If you use Gmail, check the following:

  • Spam folder
    • On the left sidebar, scroll down and click “More.”
    • Click “Spam.”
    • Look for any emails from KIC.
    • If you find an email in Spam, open it and click “Report not spam.” This helps Gmail recognize that you want to receive these messages in the future.
  • Promotions/Updates/Social/Forums Category Tabs
    • Gmail may separate your inbox into tabs such as Primary, Promotions, Forums, and Social.
    • Click through each tab such as “Promotions” along the top of your inbox to see if emails were delivered there.
    • If you find an email in one of these tabs, you can drag the email or move it to your primary inbox.
      • After you do this, Google will ask you with a small popup if you want all emails from that sender to be sent to the primary inbox in the future. Click yes.
  • All Mail
    • Click “All Mail” in the left sidebar to view every message tied to your account.

Outlook (Microsoft 365, Hotmail, Live)

If you use Outlook, check the following:

  • Junk Email folder
    • Click “Junk Email” in the left sidebar.
    • Look for emails from KIC.
  • Other tab (Focused Inbox)
    • Outlook may separate messages into “Focused” and “Other.”
    • Click the “Other” tab at the top of your inbox.

If you find an email in Junk, right-click the message and select “Not junk.” You may also choose “Always trust emails from this sender.”

Mobile Email Apps (such as Email for iPhone)

If you primarily check email on your phone, open your email app and look for folders labeled Spam, Junk, or Filtered. Some mobile apps also separate inboxes into tabs similar to desktop versions.
